Slavik Tabakov, PhD, Dr.h.c., FIUPESM, FIOMP, FIPEM, FHEA, is IUPESM Emeritus President (Vice-President 2018-2022) and IOMP President (2015-2018). Additionally to his academic activities in King’s College London, he is an active contributor to the international development of medical physics for 30 years.   He developed/coordinated 7 international projects, which created the first e-learning and first educational website in the profession, the first Medical Physics Scientific Dictionary (in 31 languages) and the first e-Encyclopaedia of Medical Physics (www.emitel2.eu). He is Founding Co-Editor of Medical Physics International Journal of IOMP; Co-Director of the International College on Medical Physics, ICTP, Trieste; Emeritus Founding Director of MSc Clinical Sciences, King’s College London; Visiting professor at Medical University Plovdiv and Rajasthan University. Among his awards are IOMP Harold Johns Medal and EU Leonardo DaVinci Award. The Plovdiv Medical University and VUARR bestowed upon him their highest honour - Doctor Honoris Causa degree and the Bulgarian Society of Biomedical Physics and Engineering awarded him with their Honorary Plaque. In 2025 EFOMP Awarded him with its Honorary European Medal for outstanding internationally acknowledged contribution to the advancement of medical physics.   In the past 25 years he has devoted his spare time to studies of Christian art, mosaics and their symbolism.
